Full Itinerary

Vienna offers a unique blend of imperial traditions and stunning modern architecture. It is famous for its cultural events, imperial sights, the Vienna Boys Choir, the famed Lipizzaner Stallions, coffeehouses, cozy wine taverns, and the very special Viennese charm. In the land of Mozart and the waltz, Vienna is the City of Music that was the home of more composers than any other city, and the capital of the world’s classical music. Vienna is full of imperial splendor and has an unparalleled timeless beauty, charm, and majesty. It will be an unforgettable experience!

Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe and has been ranked one of the world’s top cities by Conde Nast Traveler. As one of the largest cities in the European Union, Budapest has dozens of UNESCO World Heritage sites, many internationally renowned museums, galleries, famous geothermal springs, spas, parks and enchanting cafes and shops. Not to mention the scrumptious Hungarian food, delicacies and pastries and, of course, the famous Hungarian wines.

This tour is in response to many requests to combine the visit to the magnetic city of Budapest with someone who grew up there and has an in-depth insight of the area with a visit to Vienna, the enchanting capital of Austria – also a unique, historically, culturally and architecturally rich city.

We will also take interesting day tours to the surrounding areas in both cities and get first-hand insight into the local culture and the way of life.

Among the highlights of the trip will be comprehensive city tours, including visits to palaces, museums, attending musical performances, cruising on the Danube, day trips to quaint little towns, wineries and other unique places, spa treatments, and awesome food.

I look forward to the opportunity to show you these magnificent cities and surrounding areas and ensure that you have a unique enriching travel experience that you will treasure forever!!

Sept 24: VIENNA FREE DAY

Today can be spent at leisure and there is a phenomenal event that we can choose to attend!

Today there is a very special world-famous performance by the Lipizzans – the Ballet of the White Stallions – which will take place in the unique, baroque Winter Riding School at Hofburg Palace, built under Charles VI. This special performance starts at 11 a.m. (Prices range from $60 to $100 EUR).

These performances are the result of years of training for the rider and their Lipizzans. From the young, boisterous stallions to the fully trained School Stallions, their performance is absolutely enchanting. The accompanying classical Viennese music makes the wonderful presentation by the rider and their Lipizzans even more awesome – something to be treasured.

See list further below for other ideas on activities for 'free' days. (Breakfast included)

An absolutely delightful farewell evening to a magical Vienna tour! (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Sept 26: VIENNA TO BUDAPEST

We will have a guided tour from Vienna to Budapest, stopping half way in Győr, which is the most important city of northwest Hungary. Győr has an enchanting centre and beautiful Baroque buildings.

We will also stop at the town of Tata and see the famous Tata Castle, built at the end of the 1300s on the shore of Old Lake, which is one of the jewels of this baroque town and truly a unique treasure.

In Budapest,  we will stay at the Danubius Hotel Gellért, a famous historic Art Nouveau hotel on the river Danube. This hotel, a stately building at the foot of the Gellért hill, also houses the world-famous Gellért Thermal Water Baths. (Breakfast included)

Sept 27: BUDAPEST TOUR OF PEST SIDE
We leave the hotel after breakfast and enjoy a panoramic tour of Budapest - the “Queen of the Danube”, or “Paris of the East” as it is often referred to. Today we will see the Pest side of Budapest, including:

Heroes’ Square - one of Hungary’s World Heritage sites, housing the unique Millennium Monument, commemorating the 1,000th year anniversary of the country since the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin in 895.

City Park (Városliget, in Hungarian) - an impressive park, providing awesome photo opportunities. It contains famous sites, for example:

The Vajdahunyad Castle, built in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition
The Szechényi thermal bath
The Budapest Zoo

Andrássy Avenue – a major boulevard dating back to 1872. This unique boulevard is lined with impressive Neo-Renaissance mansions and townhouses with unique fine facades and interiors and is recognized as another World Heritage site. It is also one of Budapest's main shopping streets, with many fine cafes, restaurants, theatres, luxury shops, embassies, museums, and galleries.

The Hungarian State Opera House - a neo-Renaissance building, originally known as the Hungarian Royal Opera House. Its construction began in 1875 and was completed in 1884, funded by the city of Budapest and Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary.

St. Stephen's Basilica with its striking interior - a Roman Catholic basilica named in honour of Stephen, the first King of Hungary. This is the most important church in Hungary.

The Jewish district, which contains the world’s second largest synagogue – the Dohany Street Synagogue, or the Great Synagogue. Visiting the Synagogue will allow you to see the wealth and influence that the Jewish community once had in Budapest in the late 19th century. It is an enriching experience.

We will also travel on the tramway alongside the Danube – I do this several times on every one of my personal trips to Budapest! It is always fascinating and provides wonderful opportunities for breathtaking photos of some of the seven bridges that join Buda and Pest, and the impressive buildings along the banks of the Danube.

Last is our visit to the Central Market Hall. This famous market has hundreds of small shops and stands with fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and cheese. It also offers delicious Hungarian food. You can also purchase a plethora of souvenirs here – Hungarian embroidery, fine porcelain, and other traditional items. This bustling market is famous among both Hungarians (it is their city market), and tourists (due to the expansive diverse treasures available and the awesome scrumptious food options).

For lunch, I will suggest a traditional Hungarian restaurant for you to experience. I have eaten at many great ones in this area!

In the evening, we can choose to have a phenomenal private dining experience - enjoying a four-course traditional Hungarian home-cooked meal prepared by an amazing chef in her home! (Breakfast included)

Sept 28: BUDAPEST TOUR OF BUDA SIDE
We will leave the hotel after breakfast our city tour. First, we will visit the Parliament building, which is right on the banks of the Danube and has a spectacular interior. Our Parliament is, indeed, the most ornate state parliaments in Europe.

Next, we will see the famous sites on the Buda side of Budapest. We will go to the Castle District, stopping at the Fisherman’s Bastion, with its many towers and arcades that offer an incredible view over the Danube and the Pest side of the city, and Matthias Church where many kings were crowned. Shopping opportunities for Hungarian souvenirs in the Castle District are plentiful, as are cafes and pastry shops that make the best strudels – which, of course, we will get to sample! We will then visit the Gellért Hill Citadel, an impressive monument, and Budapest’s Statue of Liberty. Next, at the Chain Bridge, we will take a well-deserved break at the café at the now restored Gresham Palace at the foot of the Chain Bridge, which is now the Four Seasons Hotel. This place is unbelievable – with its magnificent interior, where even the washrooms are decorated with marble!

For lunch, I will suggest a traditional restaurant offering delicious Hungarian cuisine.

In the evening, as an option, we can enjoy a phenomenal organ concert performance at St Stephen's Cathedral which has excellent acoustics. (Prices range from $20 to $40 EUR) (Breakfast included)

Sept 29: BUDAPEST
Before reaching Budapest, the Danube first widens, then passes between hills and turns through a narrow valley to the south. This is called the Danube Bend (Dunakanyar in Hungarian).

Today we will visit the historic towns of Szentendre, Esztergom, and Visegrádon the Danube Bend which are among the oldest settlements in Hungary. We will leave our hotel after breakfast and return just before dinner. I will suggest a top-notch restaurant for lunch in Visegrád.

Szentendre
Szentendre is a charming small medieval town about ten miles north of Budapest, set on the banks of the Danube. It is an architectural gem - quaint, inviting and colorful. The buildings are of Baroque architecture, there are many typical Hungarian courtyard homes, small churches, and winding cobblestone roads lined by small eclectic boutiques and cafes. There is also an open-air museum where we have an opportunity to get a glimpse into the life in traditional Hungarian villages. This town is without a doubt on my list to visit each time I return to Budapest on my own!

Visegrád
Visegrád is a small castle town north of Budapest on the right bank of the Danube in the Danube Bend. It is famous for the remains of the Early Renaissance summer palace of King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary and the medieval citadel. Visegrád has the most dramatic scenery of all the Danube Bend towns.

Esztergom
Esztergom is the seat of the Hungarian Catholic Church and one of the oldest towns in Hungary. The Basilica of Esztergom is the third largest church of Europe. Esztergom was established around 972 AD. It was the capital of Hungary until the 13th century, and also the birth and coronation place of the first Hungarian king, St. Stephen. The Basilica and remains of the formal Royal Palace, Turkish, Classicist and Baroque buildings and a number of architectural sites of a religious nature are some of the noteworthy sites. Esztergom has been nicknamed as the “City of St. Stephen” and the “Hungarian Rome”. (Breakfast included)

Sept 30: BUDAPEST TOUR TO EGER
We will leave our hotel after breakfast for our tour of this world-renowned town. Today’s Eger is a picturesque quaint little town, founded in the 10th century, with beautifully preserved baroque buildings, famous wineries, cellars and lots of things to see and explore. Eger is about a 90-minute drive from Budapest and considered one of the most beautiful places in Hungary.

Another highlight will be enjoying some great Hungarian pastries and coffee at one of the many cafes before we travel on to the famous Valley of Beautiful Women.

This is one of Hungary’s most famous wine regions, where we will visit a winery to sample high-quality wines like Egri Bikaver (or Bull’s Blood of Eger). Our lunch break will be at one of the best eateries in Hungary which offers exceptional and creative Hungarian food. Another mouth-watering experience. (Breakfast included)

Oct 1: BUDAPEST FREE DAY
Today can be spent at leisure. A few activity ideas are listed further below.

For our last dinner together, we will enjoy a magnificent memorable dinner, followed by a scenic cruise on the Danube (all included).

Experiencing Budapest at night in all its glory, together with everything else Budapest has to offer, will undoubtedly convince you of Budapest earning its nickname of the “Paris of the east”! Let’s cherish our memories of this great travel destination. (Breakfast & Dinner included)

Oct 2: DEPART FOR HOME

Our tour concludes this morning and we will be transferred to the airport for our return flights home. Thank you for joining me and I hope you return home with life long memories!  (Breakfast included)

The handling of baggage is performed by an independent contractor over which Agent has no control. Agent is not responsible for the loss or damage to baggage or any other possessions, and it recommends customer and others on the Booking purchase insurance to cover this type of loss.

Price of Travel Services

Prices quoted by Agent for travel services are based on information provided to it by travel suppliers, include all applicable taxes and are subject to change according to travel supplier terms and conditions.  Prices can also be changed or corrected until the supplier(s) of the travel service(s) confirms a reservation.  Once a reservation is confirmed no change in price will occur.

Prices quoted by Agent do not include any government tax or fee charged by a country/state/province included on the Booking.

Additional Charges for Services

Charges may apply to inflight services, hotel stays, cruises and tours, including internet connection, entertainment, gratuities, food and drink services.

Payment for Travel Services, Counselling fees and Non-refundable Amounts

Customer is responsible for payment of all travel services booked for customer and others on the Booking.   Customer is responsible for payment of all counselling fees.  Customer is responsible for payment of all deposits.  Deposits may be non-refundable regardless of whether the travel services are supplied or used and regardless of why the travel services are not supplied or used.

Counselling fees (set out in Schedule “A” to these Terms) are due on the date the travel services are booked and are non-refundable regardless of whether the travel services are supplied or used and regardless of why the travel services are not supplied or used.

Agent shall advise customer of dates when payments are due and failure to make payments when due may result in cancellation of the travel services, which will be considered Cancellation by Customer (see “Change or Cancellation by Customer” below) and all travel supplier and Agent cancellation fees and penalties will apply.

Customer represents to Agent that customer has the authority to use any credit card the details of which customer provides to Agent without presenting the actual card to Agent.  Customer authorizes Agent to use any credit card the details of which customer provides to Agent to pay for travel services and counselling fees for customer and others on the Booking and to make those payments to Agent or a travel service supplier as directed by the Agent.  Customer and others on the Booking agrees not to make a claim for chargeback on any credit card the details of which customer provides to Agent in relation to any counselling fee or non-refundable deposit.

Change or Cancellation by Travel Services Supplier

The travel services are typically sold well in advance of travel dates and sometimes they are modified or not available.  Most often changes to the travel services will be minor, however a travel supplier may make a more significant change, for example a change of time of departure or return by more than 24 hours; change of the standard of the accommodation; increase in the cost of the travel services of more than 7% (unless government imposed); change of route requiring other identification or documentation when there is insufficient time to meet these requirements before departure; or an error in price.  In these circumstances the rights of customer and others on the Booking, shall be governed by the terms and conditions of the travel supplier and these Terms.

Change or Cancellation by Customer

Customer must make any change or cancel a booking for customer or others on the Booking, with Agent and not with a travel supplier.

Change(s) and cancellation(s) of any travel arrangements by customer or others on the Booking, will be subject to the change/cancellation policy(s) applicable to the travel service in question and these Terms.

In the case of a change by customer or others on the Booking, additional counselling fees will apply (set out in Schedule “A” to these Terms), and penalties provided for in the travel supplier(s) terms and conditions and these Terms will apply.

In the case of a cancellation by customer or and others on the Booking, additional counselling fees may apply (set out in Schedule “A” to these Terms), and penalties and non-refundable amounts provided for in the travel supplier(s) terms and conditions and these Terms will apply.

  1. Protect personal information held by it.
  2. Identify the purpose of its collection and how it will be used.
  3. Use the information collected only for the stated purpose.
  4. Ensure that the information is accurate, complete and up to date.
  5. Protect the information against loss or theft.
  6. Report the theft of any information and notify the individual of all breaches where a “real risk of significant harm” to the individual is possible.

Payment of Counselling Fees

Customer shall be responsible for payment of all counselling fees (set out in Schedule “A” to these Terms) with respect to the travel arrangements made for customer and others on the Booking.

Compensation payable to the Agent

In addition to the counselling fees for the services provided by Agent (set out in Schedule “A” to these Terms), Agent will be entitled to payments from travel service suppliers as agreed between it and those suppliers, in relation to all travel arrangements made for customer and others on the Booking.

Indemnification by Customer

Customer undertakes and agrees to defend and indemnify Agent and hold Agent harmless, at customer’s sole expense, from and against all claims, demands, suits, losses, costs, damages, and expenses that Agent may sustain or incur by reason of:

(a) any breach of these Terms by customer or others on the Booking;

(b) anything stated by customer to others on the Booking that is contrary to any of these Terms or Schedule “A” hereto or the terms and conditions of any travel supplier;

(c) a claim, demand or suit, etc. made by any of the suppliers of travel services for damages caused by customer or any one or more of the others on the Booking;

(d) a claim, demand, suit, etc. made one or more of the others on the Booking; and

(e) a claim by a credit card company or other third party dealt with by the Agent in relation to the booking of travel services for customer or others on the Booking, including any chargeback request by others on Booking or credit card issuer.

Customer’s obligations in this section shall continue in force after the use of the travel services by customer and others on the Booking.

Changes to these Terms

Agent may make changes to these Terms from time to time and all changes shall be binding on customer and others on the Booking from the date on which the change is brought to customer’s attention.

Agent Responsibility

Agent arranges travel services with independent third parties, such as airlines, hotels, bus companies, tour operators, baggage handlers and other independent suppliers to provide customer and others on the Booking, with the travel services purchased. Agent exercises care in selecting these independent suppliers and pays particular attention to their reputation and reliability. However, Agent does not control these independent suppliers and cannot be held responsible for their performance or lack thereof.

Agent is not responsible for any injury, loss or damage whether mental, emotional or physical howsoever sustained, resulting or arising from any error, omission or negligence of any company or person, agent, employee or sub-contractor supplying any of these travel services.

Agent is not responsible for consequential damages or special damages suffered by customer or others on the Booking, even in circumstances in which Agent is aware of the reason customer or others on the Booking are using the travel services, including circumstances in which customer or others on the Booking arrive at a destination later than expected and/or are unable to attend an event/excursion, whether the event/excursion is included in the price of the Booking or not.

Neither customer nor others on the Booking shall have any claim against Agent by reason of customer or others on the Booking failing to purchase travel insurance or because customer failed to advise others on the Booking to purchase travel insurance.

Limitation of Agent Liability

Agent’s liability for any loss, damage or injury, whether to property, physical or mental, arising from its own acts, omissions or negligence, is limited to the amount paid for the travel services by customer or any one of others on the Booking, in relation to which any claim by customer or any one of others on the Booking, is made.

Force Majeure

In no event shall Agent be liable for any failure to perform Agent’s obligations or delay in performing Agent’s obligations where such failure or delay is due to events beyond Agent’s control which prevents the performance of Agent’s obligations, including  without limitation, nuclear or environmental catastrophes; natural disasters and extreme weather conditions; war, invasion, or similar hostilities; rebellion, revolution, insurrection; riots or civil unrest; strikes, lockouts and labour action; acts or threats of terrorism; epidemic, pandemic, or spread of disease; Acts of State or governmental restrictions; and loss or prolonged interruption of necessary utilities, communications or computer services.

Customer acknowledges that Agent, on behalf of customer and others on the Booking, will forward funds to independent third party travel suppliers, and that once forwarded, these funds may not be recovered and/or refunded. Where a force majeure event has occurred, performance of Agent’s obligations shall be suspended for the duration of the force majeure event, and Agent shall perform Agent’s obligations only when it is possible to do so.
